Audio-Visual Map – Map50
The Map50 is a prototype of a double platform project: for virtual reality (VR) and a GPS based version. This audio-visual map interprets the spaces of the city as a musical score. It expands the original function of the spaces, shapes and structures of the city, transforming them into an audio-visual experience. Walking on the street generates a 3D sonic composition in an interactive way.
The project made by Gábor Pribék and Me. The virtual reality version can be used with Oculus Rift or Android smartphone where the user can go through a part of the city and see it, hear it in a virtual reality environment. Therefore, the user can explore the sound of the city, it would be like a sonic treasure hunt. This is also valid for the GPS based version. With that, the user is in real urban environment surrounded by sonic happenings and 360° sound masses.
The project was presented and exhibited afterwards in the M50 art district in Shanghai.
